Wild Fox

CGI Argali wild animal with X gen Fur

Project Overview High-quality, production-ready 3D character asset of an Wild Fox, executed from sculpt-stage reconstruction to final shaded render. Responsible for full technical asset production, including production retopology, high-density UV mapping, PBR texturing, full quadruped rigging using Autodesk maya and substance painter

Topology & Edge Flow:Created clean, quad-dominant production topology designed for realistic volume preservation and deformation.Engineered anatomical edge loops following muscle flow across major articulation points—shoulder girdles, hocks, spine, and jaw.Reinforced geometry density around the base of the skull and neck to support heavy horn mass and avoid deformation collapse during extreme poses.

Skeletal Rigging & Skinning:Built an advanced quadruped control rig featuring IK/FK leg setups, a dynamic stretchy spine, and multi-layered neck controls tailored for heavy head turns.Painted precise skin weight distribution paired with corrective blendshapes to maintain anatomical volume at the shoulders and knees during extreme locomotion.

Clean and optimized UV layout with properly organized shells and efficient use of texture space. The UVs were manually unwrapped and arranged to support detailed texturing while minimizing distortion and maintaining consistent texel density.

Tools Used :
Tripo AI — Generated the initial fox base model.
Autodesk Maya — Retopology, UV unwrapping, character rigging, and material setup.
Substance 3D Painter — PBR texturing and hand-painted fur detailing.
Arnold Renderer — Final look development and rendering.
